Cruz’s 4th Coco Birthday Party

Cruz's Coco Birthday Party

Hello friends! It’s been a minute, and another birthday celebration has come and gone! I can’t believe Cruz is 4 years old! This means possible part-time Pre-K this fall but that’s a whole other post. Excuse me while I cry, lol.

Coco Birthday Party Theme

So, let’s get started on all the fun stuff for Cruz’s Coco themed party. The Coco theme idea came about last year before Jia’s birthday.  Joey said that he wanted to pick Cruz’s party theme for his next birthday.  After some planning, he decided to do Coco. Now, I have to admit that this theme was way out of my comfort zone. If you have been following me you know that I tend to do less cartoonish or super colorful party’s in favor of more neutral colors. I’m usually like to come up with a simple theme that has a fun twist! But you guys – this came out amazing and Cruz’s face was priceless! I was a nervous wreck trying to put my own twist on it while still keeping it very traditional to the Coco theme that Joey wanted.

PARTY DECORATIONS

Whenever I start party planning  theme I always start with Pinterest. I search the theme, start looking for ideas, and begin making a board. For the  Wheni t comes to purchasing decor, I usually try to shop small – either with  friendsthat have their own small shops, or on Etsy.

The first decision made for decor was the Ofrenda, which was the main focus of decoration for the party. Our balloon garland that went around the ofrenda was made by @byob_backdrops. They totally made it exactly how I envisioned and the colors were exactly what I sent them . They don’t only do balloon garlands, they have many backdrops to choose from to go perfect with any theme!

All the photos on the ofrenda were our family members. I wanted that vintage feel for photos and, from what I’ve seen, photo frames never match so I did a mixture of sizes and colors – some white and some gold.  All frames were from Michaels.

His adorable party favor bags were made by Alissa @yourdecor.az . She can make anything you need for those extra touches to any party or theme.

The ‘CRUZ’ banner was from @etsy

PARTY FOOD

I was so busy with what was going on with the party and all of our guests , that I never made it outside during the party to post anything from our taco set up.  The tacos were amazing and I did have some veggie ones when the party was over but our guests really enjoyed the Carne Asada and chicken tacos . They also served quesadillas, rice and beans, and fresh Agua Fresca for the kids.  Our taco set up was from @mrs.queen.of.tacos

We also had our usual veggie and cheese platters, lots of fruit with tajin and lemon, Takis, and chips and salsa . And, of course my vegan ceviche and some shrimp ceviche!

To wash down the yummy food we had some Mexican sodas, Modelos, Michiladas, and the freshest margaritas made by our good friend Sheldon. He is a 3x Guinness record-holding mixologist @sheldonradwiley.  They were so delicious and all fresh ingredients with lime and tajin on the rim took them to the next level!

Now this is always my favorite  – Dessert!

Cupcakes were by my dear friend @jess_the_baker
The cake and cookies were made by @matildascookies.
His adorable pan dulce cake pops were made by @_riquette_
Our pan dulce was from @lasonorenseinc
And, all our Mexican candy was provided by @mrschapaspit.

PARTY ENTERTAINMENT

The past couple years we have made sure to have some things that will keep the kids busy that also go along with the theme.

We did have a face painter come again to try and get all the kids in the Coco spirit. The kids looked so cute! Her number is 480-232-6170

We also had a jumper which always keeps the kids happy and entertained.
Then, of course, the star of this party was our special guest Miguel! The kids were so excited and he spent an hour dancing, playing games, and singing along.  He also spent time taking photos and he stayed for our happy birthday cake and piñata!

PARTY PHOTOGRAPHY

And, last but not least, all of these amazing photos you see we’re taken by Donna from @wildlingsphoto.co.

Our lighting is always a hit or miss in our house but she makes it work! Having a photographer at the last few party’s has been a life saver. As a mom running all over during the party I always feel I miss so much.  But, I never have to worry about missing the perfect photo with a photographer there.

Phew! Lol! I think I covered it all, if I’m missing anything or if you have any questions please feel free to message me. Thanks for reading up on Cruz’s Coco party!
